Audience Analysis: Anyone can use art therapy. Art therapy can effectively treat people of all ages. Anyone from groups or communities to individuals to families to people in all sorts of relationships can use art as therapy. Kids, teenagers, or adults with personal problems can benefit from using art therapy. Therefore, the video-based instruction will be made to introduce Art Therapy to people of all ages.

Goal: After watching the video lesson, the learners will be able to learn the new creative therapy called“The Art Therapy”. Learners will also be able to understand the history, how this therapy works, who needs art therapy, it’s uses and limitations.

Learning Objectives: The following learning objectives are based on the 5-minute lesson given to the learners of all ages. After participating in the lesson, the learners will be able to do the following:

  1. Explain Art Therapy, it’s history and origin, when it’s used, who needs it, and how it works.
  2. Comfortably answer common questions about Art Therapy.

Task Analysis: The main task of this lesson is to introduce “Art Therapy” to the learners. Art therapy is becoming increasingly popular, thanks to studies revealing its effectiveness as a treatment method for depression, trauma, dementia, and many other conditions. There are art therapy associations throughout the world, from Britain and New Zealand to the United States and Singapore. The learners will follow the Cognitive Load Theory (CLT), because it is an instructional design theory that reflects their “cognitive architecture,” or the way that they process information. During learning, information must be held in their working memory until it has been processed sufficiently to pass into their long-term memory. First, they will learn the definition of Art therapy. Second slide will talk about its history. Third slide will discuss about when this therapy is used. Fourth slide will talk about who needs it and how does it work.

Instructional strategies and assessment: The goal of an educator’s using Bloom’s taxonomy is to encourage higher-order thought in their students by building up from lower-level cognitive skills. In context to this lesson, knowledge will be the first step to help learners define the Art Therapy. To assess whether the learners understand the new knowledge or not, they will be asked “one question quiz”.
